Lean Transformation
The Lean Transformation Program, which is divided into 4 phases, helps maximize results as organizations progressively implement and reinforce Lean improvement processes.
Organizational Lean Transformation 4-phase structure.
At the outset, Phase 1 leadership and sponsorship issues are addressed to help set the stage for positive change. In Phase 2 interactive workshops uncover the barriers that are constraining the organization and set the stage for rapid improvement projects. As improvements are implemented, measured and documented, standards are established in Phase 3 to lock in the gains and facilitate the replication and scaling of successful interventions to other parts of the organization. In Phase 4, knowledge transfer occurs throughout, leaving the organization with strong core competencies in identifying, implementing, and reinforcing ongoing quality improvement.
Phase 1 - Foundation
Senior Management understanding and commitment to the Lean Transformation strategy and implementation plan is one of the most important factors for success.
The foundation stage is where both an understanding of Lean principles and of the key pillars of a successful Lean transformation strategy is developed within the senior management team. The information gathered from these sessions is used to support the development of the Lean Transformation Strategy and related implementation plan, consistent with existing strategies and local priorities.
At this stage, we also determine how support for Lean can be regularized in the organization through avenues such as reporting and new or existing leadership committee structures. Senior management will be supported throughout the process of developing a Lean Transformation Strategy and implementation plan. The support will take the form of Executive briefings and workshops as needed.

Phase 4 -Scale and Sustain
The goal of the strategy is to build the internal capacity of each organization so that they can drive the transformation process long after the initial intensive period has passed. Many organizations begin to falter in their Lean journey around the 12-month mark, therefore; it is essential that the Senior Leadership Team have a full review of the Lean progress at this point. These workshops are designed to support the Senior Leadership Team through this critical 12-month review. The workshops will support the Senior Leadership Team develop a plan for internal sustainability of Lean across the organization with a focus on consolidating and building capacity over the next twenty-four months to support sustainability.
